Munich/Dachau

We left Salzburg mid afternoon on the 15th and traveled to Munich to stay.  When we got there we just checked into our hotel and ate dinner.  The next day (March 16th) we traveled a little bit to the concentration camp that they have in Dachau.  This camp not only held the Jews but also some religious and political prisoners.  It was a sobering experience to see the camp but it also gave evidence to all that we had learned about this time period actually happening.  Here are some pictures of Munich:
This was the place where we ate.
This picture and the pictures that follow are pictures of the city that we saw.

Here are some pictures from Dachau:
This is what it says on the gate as you walk in the camp.  It says that work makes you free.
This is some artwork that was put here.
This is a chart on how the prisoners were marked so that the workers could see why that prisoner was there.

 Your shared bunk.
This was the outside of the main building.
This is what one of the barracks would have looked like.
This is the foundation of one.
You can see that there were lots of buildings.
This is the number of the bunks that were there originally.
 This goes into the crematorium.
 The building
 The ovens
This is the prison that they had behind the main building.
This small space was originally three separate cells.  This part of the trip was very informative as well as very sobering.
