This last Saturday for our Gemeindekonferenz (Ward Conference) we were given the opportunity to be shown the city of Waiblingen by the Bürgermeister (Mayor). We were shown through the old part of the city and we learned some things about the history of the city. Eddy and I had already walked around the city and had seen almost all that we were shown. What we had not seen was the inside of the Galerie (Gallery), the Schlosskeller (Castle (Cellar) Basement), and we went up the Wachturm (Watch Tower). The Galerie had on display lots of things that you can make using cardboard. There were chairs made of cardboard, play place, houses, etc. It was pretty cool to be able to look around and see what they had on display. Here is a picture of the art piece that they have by these buildings.
You can walk to the middle of the Sculpture and as you walk the space gets smaller. You start on the outside and as you walk it winds inward. It was cool to see that.
Here are some pictures of the Schlosskeller.
This is part of the castle. I assumed that is was part of the wall, but it could be something else.
This was a big chute where you could put something from above in and it would go the the basement.
This is a doorway leading down to the keller.
This is the other side of the doorway.
This is the basement or as it is literally translated cellar. Here are some pictures from the top (nearly) of the watch tower.
This I thought was cool because of the sun kind of peaking through.
This is from the bottom of the tower taking a picture of all the stairs that we had to climb to get to the top of the tower.
Here is a picture of the outside.
Another picture of the outside just a little farther so I could get a better picture of the whole tower.
Stadtführung is how it is spelled but the title would do the two dots on the top of the letter u so I changed it accordingly.
