Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas season.  Here is a picture of my tree.

It was a small 3 foot tree but it gave us some festive cheer.  Eddy's present to me was a scavenger hunt for some items.  It was pretty fun.  So it started with a present under the tree.  This is what I opened:

 Ritz Crackers with the first clue.  Do you still [wear] the garment?  Which was for me to go looking in the drawer where they are kept.

I unwrapped these Swedish Fish with this clue.  Since there are many places where I clean things Eddy gave me hints and I found my next gift hidden behind the laundry soap.

I then opened and received Red Vines with this clue attached.  So from what it says I go to our printer which also has a copier and found this paper where we copy items.

 This note with an IOU (which I did get).  We only alphabetize our movies so I looked there next and found this. 

The Princess Bride with this clue attached to the front.  The clue led me to the place where Eddy keeps his gym clothes.  This is what I found.

Starburst wrapped with this clue written on the outside of the wrapping.  It led me to the next clue which is one of the gifts that I received from my brother while he was on a mission.

This clue was taped to the back.  From the clue I went to the place that we keep our crackers and found this item.

This popcorn with the note attached to it.  It led me to look in Eddy's drawer.  And this is what I found. 

A summer sausage with the clue to go look on the table in the spare room with all Eddy's school books on it.  This is what I found. 

  

The movie The Sound of Music which I really like watching and haven't as yet bought.  It was fun to do this scavenger hunt. 

Christmas

For Christmas we spent it in Meerane with one of the members from when Eddy served his mission there.  We had some food that I have never eaten before.  The duck and rabbit were two things that I haven't eaten before.  We also had something called Klöβe which when I look up the word in the dictionary means dumpling.  We had two different kinds with one that was made with flour, I believe, and the other one was make with potatoes (Kartoffel).  They had a piece of cooked bread in the middle.  I like the potato ones a little better, but they were both good.  

 We also went to a Christmas program put on by one of the churches in the area.  The church was pretty old.  The pews were all wooden and there was hooks for your stuff and everything.  Here are some pictures I took of our pew.

While there I found a cool setting on the camera I am borrowing from my sister.  Here are some pictures that I took with this setting.

 You could pick one color and it would take a picture only of that color.  Everything else is in black and white.

 This one you could switch colors.  It doesn't do it fully but it looks like green fuzzies are everywhere since I switched the white/grayish colors with green.

As you can see with these ones that I picked a color and took a picture.  The setting would also make some of the colors in a picture brighter.  Like bright red and all the reds in the picture would stand out.  It was pretty cool to experiment with the setting.

Christmas and New Years

This year has gone by slowly and quickly.  For Christmas this year Eddy and I stayed in Utah and had Christmas by oursleves.  In our small Twin Creek Apartment we didn't have any room for our tree so here is what we did instead.

Our Christmas tree card and treat jar was our Christmas tree.  I thought it was pretty funny and it saved me having to try to find the space and time to put the tree up.  We were given much by our families and we are grateful.

For New Year's Eve we went to a party at the church done by the Bartholomew's and the activities committee.  It was really fun.  Eddy and I did really well in the relay races and did well in the three legged race.

Temple Square

This last Friday, Eddy and I went down and saw the lights on Temple Square with another couple. First we drove around trying to find a parking spot as well as getting through traffic because it was the same day as the Mormon Tabernacle Choir concert so traffic was HORRIBLE.

We walked from where we parked to Crown Burgers the food was good and I loved their fries.

Then we went to see the Christus statue in the visitors center.

Then we went to the nativity just outside the visitor's center but sadly the sound wasn't working so all we saw was the different lights being turned on and off. Ironically, the last time I came to Temple square to see the lights, the lights on the nativity weren't working but the sound was working. Oh well.

Then we walked around looking at the lights and things as well as taking pictures of the temple.

I found out that if you breathed right before taking your picture the camera will take a picture of your breath as well giving the picture a foggy look.

I like to take pictures of fountains because I think they are cool but this was way cool since you can see the steam from water rising.

Overall, the trip was fun though it was freezing. Maybe next year we will go earlier in the year before it gets to cold and to busy so that traffic will not be so bad.
