Stuttgart and Departure

On Tuesday March 22nd we went to do a shopping day in Stuttgart.  We went down King street and went shopping though not much was bought we just did some window shopping.  It was fun and while we were at it I showed them some of the things on Stuttgart 21 which is about the train station in the city and its controversy of those trying to stop it from happening.  We also showed them the place where Eddy and I found that they play chess in the park as well as the outside of the old and new castle.  It was a fun day.  Here are some pictures:

 This is a floor market where you can buy a bunch of fresh cooking item with some shops on the top floor.

 We found a guy drawing pictures on the sidewalk with chalk just like in Mary Poppins.  They were pretty cool.

The day was fun and after we left Stuttgart we went to Waiblingen and my family went shopping for the candy that they were taking home.  So, early the next morning (Wednesday March 23rd) we all got on the train and I took my family to the airport so they could fly home.

Stuttgart Day

This last Saturday Eddy and I went to Stuttgart.  This is the first time for Eddy besides going to the Christmas market and this was the first time for me to go and look to see exactly what shops they had there.  We also walked around and explored a little bit of the city.  Here are some pictures.

 I found this really cool statue in the Old Castle courtyard.  I thought it was pretty cool.

 We walked through a park by the train station and found an area where a bunch of people can play games in the park.  You know how on some movies where all the old men gather and play games in the park or the street.  This is how it was like here and I am sure if it was the summer that there would be a lot more people playing.  The funniest part is that the spectators who were watching the game would start arguing with each other and trying to tell the players how they were to play the game.  It was hilarious.

Here in Stuttgart there is what they are calling the Stuttgart 21 which is where they are going to renovate the train station and move the tracks below the ground.  Well there is a ton of opposition.  When we were walking through this park by the train station we found where there a lot of the people are demonstrating.  Here are some pictures.

 Here are more tents.  There were also lots of trees that had signs saying that you should not kill as well as trees that had different objects tied around them as well as people living in the different trees.  My conclusions is that this area of the park by the train station is going to be a main site where they create the tunnels to move the tracks underground so all these trees are going to be cut down which is why we have people living in the park in teepee's, tents, and in the trees.

 Just outside of the train station, where they have started the construction, there are a bunch on propaganda posters against the remodeling of the station tied to the fence.  The whole fence is literally covered.

It was interesting to see all this controversy and to actually see the people who do not want this to happen living in the park.  It was an interesting day and it was really awesome to see that game place in the park like they have in the movies.

MesseHerbst

This last Friday I went into Stuttgart close to the airport for a convention of sorts.  They had different rooms with different rooms with different part of hobbies.  For example: there was a room that was for sewing and the arts, a room with different baby things, electronics, model airplanes, trains, etc., a place with different food vendors, a few others.  I went with some of the ladies in the ward.  They were selling things so it was kind of like a convention in the part that they would inform you on the different uses of some of there items and like a fair because you could buy all the sorts of products.  I did not buy anything but one thing that caught my eye and I had to take a picture of is this:

 When I saw this I could not figure it out, but it was explained to me that if you wanted to hold hands with your significant other you would both insert the hands you are going to be holding.  It is designed to keep the hands that you are holding warm when it is cold outside.  I thought it was pretty nifty.  This particular one was knitted.  Also, they had some cool displays that they put up made up of balloons which I thought was pretty cool.  Here are some pictures.

They were really cool.  Overall I enjoyed my time with some of the ladies of the ward.  The Christmas Markets start this week so I will be posting about those as we go to the different ones.
